The heavy-duty Universal pump for industrial products that don't behave politely.
The Waukesha Universal 2 ND is purpose-built for heavy-duty industrial positive displacement service — slurries, viscous products, shear-sensitive fluids, chemical transfer, and difficult applications where long life and installation flexibility matter.
A robust rotary lobe platform for heavy-duty industrial transfer.
The U2 ND takes the Universal 2 platform into tougher industrial service where settled slurries, viscous products, or process variability can make ordinary pump selections expensive in the field.
Waukesha's external circumferential piston design gives the U2 ND steady, low-pulsation flow, bi-directional capability, and no internal rotor contact. The result is a durable option for products that need positive displacement transfer without unnecessary shear.
Triplex supports U2 ND sizing, replacement, parts, manuals, and seal review — especially when the application involves slurries, flush needs, dry-running concerns, or pressure near the upper end of the model range.
Resins, polymers, sludges
Heavy-duty transfer where viscosity and pressure matter.
Solvents, fuels, oils
Review materials and elastomers before final selection.
Wastewater / byproducts
Useful where slurries and settled solids create startup risk.
Cosmetic oils and gels
Low-shear transfer of shear-sensitive products.
Built for long life in demanding process duty.
The U2 ND emphasizes rugged construction, seal life, and process flexibility rather than a one-size-fits-all pump promise.
Platform features
- Pumps filled with settled slurries can start without damaging pump or seals when properly applied.
- Water-flushed seal arrangements can support extended dry-running capability.
- Low-shear, pulsation-free flow helps protect sensitive products and downstream equipment.
- No internal rotor contact reduces wear and simplifies maintenance expectations.
- Rotor/shaft connection is sealed from the product zone.
- No oil seepage into the product zone reduces contamination concerns.
- Large-diameter 17-4 PH shafts improve stiffness and help extend seal life.
- Grease-lubricated bearings support operation across speed, temperature, and pressure ranges.

Selection notes
- Confirm material compatibility for product and cleaning chemistry.
- Review seal style, flush plan, elastomers, and dry-running expectations early.
- Check startup conditions if product settles, crystallizes, or contains solids.
- Confirm pressure, viscosity, horsepower, and line losses with Triplex before ordering.
The circumferential piston principle.
Universal Series pumps use Waukesha's external circumferential piston design: long sealing paths, tight running clearances, and non-galling Alloy 88 rotors to move viscous or shear-sensitive products with steady flow.
Because the rotors do not contact each other, Universal pumps can handle sensitive products with lower shear than many pump styles. The close clearances reduce slip, and the robust shaft/bearing arrangement helps maintain alignment under pressure.
Final sizing still depends on product viscosity, temperature, pressure, line losses, cleaning method, and seal requirements. Triplex can verify the right model, rotor, seal, elastomer, and motor configuration before ordering.
