Datacenter Liquid Cooling — Pumps, Valves, Fittings & Tubing | Triplex Sales
Industries · Datacenter Liquid Cooling

Built for the liquid-cooled datacenter.

AI and HPC workloads have pushed rack densities past what air can remove. Liquid cooling — direct-to-chip, rear-door, and immersion — is now the architecture of record. That means miles of stainless tubing, thousands of isolation valves, high-reliability pumps, and fittings rated for continuous 24/7 service at every CDU, manifold, and row.

Triplex Sales supplies the full wet-side bill of materials: pumps, valves, fittings, stainless tubing, gaskets, and hangers — stocked across the alloys and finishes datacenter operators actually specify, from carbon-steel facility headers to 316L polished TCS loops and 6Mo super-austenitic for high-chloride makeup water.

01 — Loop Architecture

Three loops. One supplier.

A modern liquid-cooled datacenter is organized around three thermal circuits separated by plate-and-frame heat exchangers inside the CDU. Each loop has its own fluid chemistry, cleanliness requirement, and component spec. We supply parts into all three.

Loop 1

Facility Water System

FWS · Primary · Cooling Tower → CDU

The big-bore side. Treated water — often with glycol and corrosion inhibitor — loops from the cooling tower or chiller plant to the facility-side of every CDU. Runs 6"-12" mains, carbon steel or 304 stainless, with butterfly isolation at every branch and tap.

Because fluid chemistry is controlled by plant chemistry, not by IT, this loop tolerates harder materials and less-polished surfaces. But reliability is non-negotiable: any FWS failure cascades into a thermal event.

What we ship Centrifugal pumps · Butterfly valves · Check valves · Y-strainers · 304 weld fittings · Carbon-steel hangers · EPDM gaskets
Loop 2

Technology Cooling System

TCS · Secondary · CDU → Rack / Row

Between the CDU and the row manifold. Typically a 25% propylene-glycol / water mix or treated DI water, held at precise temperature and flow. Cleanliness matters here — any debris makes it to the cold plate.

Lines are usually 2"-6" 304/316L stainless, either welded or Tri-Clamp, with isolation ball valves at every rack drop and pressure/flow instrumentation throughout. Polished ID tubing (20/32 Ra) is standard on new hyperscale builds.

What we ship Sanitary centrifugal pumps · Ball & diaphragm valves · 316L weld fittings · A270 polished tubing · EPDM / FKM gaskets · Stainless hangers
Loop 3

Direct-to-Chip & Immersion

D2C · Rack / Tank Side

Inside the rack. Cold-plate and immersion systems run on high-purity water, propylene glycol, or engineered dielectric fluids (single- or two-phase). Flow paths are smaller — 1/4" to 1" — and tolerance for particulate is measured in microns.

Tri-Clamp, quick-disconnect, and compression-fit manifolds predominate. Gasket choice is driven by fluid compatibility: EPDM for water/glycol, FKM for fluorinated dielectrics, PTFE for broad chemical service.

What we ship Sanitary centrifugal pumps · Rotary lobe pumps · Compact ball valves · Sanitary clamp fittings · BPE-finish tubing · FKM / PTFE gaskets · Compact hangers

04 — Materials & Fluids

Spec the alloy and the elastomer for the fluid.

Datacenter cooling systems run 24/7 for 15+ years. Small misalignment between fluid chemistry and material choice shows up as pitting, stress-corrosion cracking, or elastomer swell three to five years in — usually under load, always expensive. Here's how we spec it.

Alloys in the loop

  • Carbon Steel FWS mains only. Low cost for large-diameter facility-water headers where chemistry is controlled. Requires inhibitor package and annual testing.
  • T304 / 304L General-purpose stainless. FWS mains, cooling-tower risers, makeup-water piping where chlorides are below ~200 ppm.
  • T316L Default for TCS and D2C. Added Mo resists chlorides and inhibitor breakdown products. Specified on nearly every hyperscale TCS loop.
  • 316L low-S (BPE) Cleanroom DC builds. Controlled sulfur for repeatable orbital welding. Used on D2C loops where surface cleanliness is part of the service spec.
  • 6Mo (UNS N08367) High-chloride makeup water. Coastal sites, reclaimed water, and once-through seawater cooling. PREN ~46 vs. 316L's 27.
  • Copper / Brass Cold-plate side only. Inside the server; not in the facility or TCS piping. Fluid chemistry must protect copper — no ammonia, controlled pH.

Fluids & compatible elastomers

  • Treated Water FWS default. City or well water with corrosion inhibitor, biocide, pH adjuster. Gaskets: EPDM.
  • PG-25 / PG-30 TCS standard. 25-30% propylene glycol / water mix for freeze protection and corrosion control. Gaskets: EPDM.
  • Deionized Water Advanced D2C. High-purity water with controlled conductivity. Aggressive to many metals — 316L minimum. Gaskets: EPDM or PTFE.
  • Mineral / Synthetic Oil 1P immersion. Hydrocarbon or engineered synthetic dielectric. Gaskets: FKM (Viton®), NOT EPDM (swells).
  • Fluorinated Dielectric 2P immersion. Engineered fluorocarbon (Novec-series, etc.). Gaskets: PTFE or FFKM; specialty elastomers required.
  • Glycol Blends · Custom OEM-specified. Some CDU vendors ship a proprietary fluid. Always confirm elastomer compatibility against the vendor's data sheet before ordering gaskets.

08 — Frequently Asked

Answers for engineers, PMs, and mechanical contractors.

The questions that come up most on datacenter cooling projects. Anything not here — ask us and we'll route it to the specialist who owns the category.

What cooling loops does Triplex Sales supply components for?

All three — the Facility Water System (FWS), Technology Cooling System (TCS), and rack-side direct-to-chip or immersion loops. Each loop has its own alloy, surface finish, and gasket requirements, and we stock across the full spectrum from carbon steel FWS mains through 316L electropolished TCS tubing.

What line-size range do you stock?

1/4" to 24" depending on the component. 1/4" to 12" covers the sanitary fitting and tubing lineup; butterfly valves and large-bore pipe run to 24" for FWS mains and cooling-tower risers. Full reducing-combination coverage across the range.

Do you supply complete wet-side BOMs for CDU or cooling skid projects?

Yes. Send a bill of materials and we come back with a line-item quote covering pumps, valves, fittings, tubing, gaskets, and hangers — with lead times and any alloy or finish callouts worth reviewing before ordering.

What traceability documentation is available on datacenter orders?

EN 10204-3.1 Mill Test Reports on every stainless heat. ISO 9001 quality systems on all fitting, pump, and valve lines. ASME-BPE documentation on biopharm-spec components. FDA-compliant gasket certs where required.

Do you stock alloys beyond 304 and 316L for high-chloride datacenter service?

Yes. 6Mo (UNS N08367, PREN ~46) for high-chloride cooling-tower and seawater service, 904L for super-austenitic pitting resistance, and Alloy 22 (Hastelloy C22® equivalent) for the most aggressive chemistries — coastal sites, reclaimed makeup water, or aggressive CIP loops.

How does your datacenter cooling program differ from your hygienic and food-and-beverage program?

Much of the stainless fitting and tubing lineup overlaps — sanitary cleanliness matters on TCS and D2C loops just like it does in food, dairy, and biopharm. Differences appear on the facility-water side (carbon-steel mains, large-bore butterfly valves, inhibitor chemistry) and in elastomer selection — FKM and PTFE are required for dielectric-fluid immersion service, not EPDM.

Next Step

Send the BOM. We'll ship the cooling loop.

Pumps, valves, fittings, tubing, gaskets, hangers — across carbon steel, 304, 316L, and 6Mo. Whether it's a hyperscale AI hall, a colo retrofit, or an immersion pilot, we can quote the full wet-side BOM from one supplier and back it with 3.1 MTRs on every heat.
